WE±TWEED Eau de Parfum by UERMI
This scent shows a complex and multifaceted nature, a series of mixed feelings evoke the fabric after which it’s named: tweed is a dry, rough wool, dyed in beautiful colors that may show contrasting shades. Sometimes a vermilion thread stands on an electric blue base or a grass-green thread on an orange base. The scent reflects this search in every sense for harmony in contrasts: the opening features a dry, hot and pungent accord, with black pepper adding powderiness. The central accord marries a playful note (an almost childlike red fruit) to a vetiver+cashmeran accord, rather sober and elegant. Benzoin and ambroxan make the drydown unexpectedly sweet, crunchy and powdery, rejoining ideally with the top notes. I believe it hasn’t been easy to work with opposing feelings while mantaining elegance and balance in the composition, but Jean Jacques succeeded in it, and the result is a scent both sophisticated and wearable with great pleasure, despite the complexity of its many facets, celebrating in a surprisingly true way the complexity of real tweed.
